1. Is the Rainbow Mabe Pearl real?
  • Yes, it is. Rainbow Mabe Pearl is real pearl. It is come from Penguin Oyster and grown in the South China Sea for ten years.

2. Is the Rainbow Mabe Pearl belonging to the Natural Pearl or the Cultured Pearl?
  • Rainbow Mabe Pearl is a kind of Cultured Pearl. When the seed (nuclear) was implanted in the oyster (or clam) by people to irritate oyster to grow pearl layer (Nacre) to cover the seed and finally become a pearl is called Cultured Pearl. But when the seed come in the oyster accidentally and form a pearl, it is belong to the Natural Pearl. There are very few of the Natural Pearl now. The South Sea Pearl, Tahitian Black Pearl and so called the Culture Pearl are all belong to the Cultured Pearl. The growing time of the Cultured Pearl is shorter than the Natural Pearl and the quality of the formal is usually higher than the latter.

3. Is the Rainbow Mabe Pearl grown in salt water or in fresh water?
  • Rainbow Mabe Pearl was grown in sour water for ten years. The main difference between them is the sour water pearl has nuclear but fresh water pearl without. Sour water pearl has much higher luster and more colorful than fresh water pearl. Fresh water pearl can be grown up in three years and they are more prolific for over ten times than the sour water pearl. Fresh water pearl is grown in dam which without pollution and their growing environment can be controlled, but sour water pearl is grown in ocean, which has serious pollution, and the environment can not be controlled at all. So, the value of them is quite different. The market trend has proved the price of fresh water pearl has been going down but sour water pearl has been going up.

4. Why the Rainbow Mabe Pearl is a hemisphere but not a sphere?
  • Rainbow Pearl could be grown to become a sphere pearl, too. The hemisphere shape of Rainbow Mabe Pearl (also named Rainbow Mabe Blister Pearl) are grown purposely, because they can be designed to more different styles than the sphere pearl can. The seed of the round pearl is sphere, which is in the stomach of the oyster. And the seed of half round pearl (Mabe Blister Pearl) is a hemisphere, which is between the mantle tissue and the shell. So, the Mabe Blister Pearl is stuck on the shell base. Sometimes, the seed could be polished to special shape like oval, heart or tear drop------, and finally the pearl would form to the same shape as the seed.

5. What are the growing processes of the Rainbow Mabe Pearl?
  • First, the Penguin Oyster should be grown in the sea for three years, then people took it out from the sea and open them and implant a seed inside. Then, put it back in the sea to grow another 7 more years. Finally, took it out from sea and cut it out together with the shell base. During these 10 years, the grower must take care of them like grow fish, they have to feed them everyday and do every necessary inspection according to professional and complicated schedule.

6. Why the Rainbow Mabe Pearl looks so different than the other kinds of Mabe Pearl?
  • There are about 4 kinds of Mabe Pearls in the market so far. They are from South Sea White Oyster (with white color and a little yellow tone), Tahitian Black Oyster (with black or silver color), Abalone Oyster (with bluish gray color), and the Penguin Oyster (with iridescent rainbow and champagne color). It just because the inside color of Penguin Oyster is from gold to silver gradually changed, so when the Mabe Pearl cut with some base, it shown very iridescent, and this situation is very different to others which just with plain color and so all cut the dome only. That is why the Rainbow Pearl has deeply impressed in the memory of people.

7. How come some same styles have different price or value?
  • All the real pearls valued in the same ways. The value is depending on the luster, which is the higher, the better. The second is the smoothness, which is the more smooth, the better. These two terms are the most important (about occupied 60%) to decide the value of pearls. And the Nacre's thickness (it means the thickness of the pearl layer covered on the seed) is the only factor to decide the quality of the luster and the smoothness. If the oysters were very healthy during the ten years, they must have produced very good layer on the seed day by day.
So, their value are not could be accumulated in a shot time. The third is the color. The trait of the Rainbow pearl is with rainbow and champagne color, so if the pearl with these typical colors would be better. And so, you cannot expect them with white color as the South Sea White Mabe Pearl, or as black as the Tahitian Black Mabe Pearl, or as bluish as the Abalone Mabe Pearl. The fourth is depending on the size, when the above situations are the same, then the bigger the higher value. All of the above situations will cause their prices or value to many times difference.
